Since 1970, only European vehicles
German Auto Tech was opened in 1970 by Dietmar Strieder, who came from Germany as a factory-trained Volkswagen technician. The shop was built from that European training foundation — not as a general repair shop that later added imports, but as a specialist operation focused on the cars Dietmar knew deeply.
That origin still shapes the business today. German Auto Tech has remained an independent European auto specialist because depth matters. That focus is the difference between a shop that can work on your BMW, Mercedes, or Volkswagen and a shop that actually knows it.
What we believe about repair
European vehicles reward depth. They have specific fluids, specific intervals, specific parts, and specific failure modes that respond to people who have done the same work many times before. We follow those specifics. We use European-capable diagnostic equipment. We use parts that match the vehicle. We bring our patience to the diagnosis rather than the bill.
The other half of repair is conversation. We tell you what is necessary, what is wise, what is your call, and what we would do if it were our own car — and we are clear about the difference between those four.
Modern and classic
We service modern BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Jaguar, and Land Rover vehicles. We also service classic European vehicles — vintage Mercedes diesels, air-cooled Volkswagens, and other older European cars — that most independent shops will not touch and most dealerships are no longer set up to handle. Few shops in the Mid-South still do this work. We do.
